Construction Project Director
PURPOSE AND SCOPE
The Construction Project Director will be responsible for managing the construction team to ensure delivery of
the project is on time and within budget. He will need to build credibility, respectful partnerships with Clients
and EPC Contractors and apply rigorous and disciplined approaches to his team whilst delivering the project.
The Company is seeking a candidate who has capability in driving strategy and innovation as well as providing
the foundations for a motivating and challenging work environment.
The successful candidate will have a tertiary background in either construction and/or project management
with proven track record of 25 years’ experience with main contractors. He shall have led the construction of
heavy mechanical projects in excess of USD 800 M in value.
Local market experience of MENA region is preferable; of higher importance are excellent technical knowledge,
outstanding organizational skills, proven leadership and senior management skills, and pride and enthusiasm in
the work.
The Construction Project Director must also be strong in the following areas; client liaison, construction
management and ability to provide guidance and assistance to construction managers and contract
administrators on all construction related matters. He must have experience working in a creative environment
and must have excellent communication and leadership skills.
This position will also be accountable for the performance of the project team regarding to profitability, cost
control, quality, efficiency, client satisfaction and also work place health, safety and environmental issues.
The Construction Project Director shall possess strong verbal and written communication skills coupled with
the ability to motivate himself and his team. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing large projects,
design consultants, subcontractors and staff simultaneously.

high level of responsibility and control.
Qualification and Experience:
• Must have an engineering degree from a recognized institution and under 60 years old.
• Must have at least twenty-five years’ experience in Oil & Gas Industry and has lately lead construction
management team in execution heavy mechanical project.
Principal Duties
These are listed below in the sequence in which they generally occur. This sequence is not indicative of the relative importance
of the individual function, all of which are aimed at the ultimate achievement of aforementioned purpose.
• Provide strong leadership to the project team.
• Interface proactively with other company departments, design, contracts, estimating, and cost planning
etc.
• Create a winning 'can do' culture within the team.
• Proactively respond to the client as required.
• Make strategic decisions in relation to all aspects of the project in conjunction with Senior Executive
Management.
• Provide input to senior management in relation to potential funding models.
• Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders keeping them regularly informed on project
status.
• Conducting monthly reviews with Commercial Managers, Project Managers and other staff
• Continuous monitoring of risks and their mitigation measures.
• Making recommendations and improvements to the current methodology to deliver projects more
effectively and efficiently
• Makes selection of key staff required to fill both technical and administrative posts and establishes the
organization structure of project in collaboration with of Commercial Manager.
• Participates in setting up and reviewing project execution strategy and schedule. Continuously reviews and
analyzes implementations of the project execution strategy and schedule.
• Overlooks the assignment and the making out of construction equipment requirement schedule in
collaboration with Project Managers and Construction Managers.
• Ensures alignment of the project team in handling major and/or critical equipment and materials
requirements with emphasis on pre-assembled packages, racks, units and modules in respect of delivery
modes, heavy lifting, transportations and logistics.
• Leads the mobilization efforts in terms of camps, TCF, manpower and plant.
• Lead the preparation of Project Execution Plan.
• Initiates team building efforts and activities with Client and project staff.
• Warrants that project disciplines are aligned with the construction execution planning and ensures proper
delegation of authority is established and adequate checks are built into working procedures.
• Overlooks materials ordering program.
• Overlooks the established system for project progress monitoring and reporting to Client and Corporate
offices ensuring their dispatch on time.
• Frequently visits work site to strengthen coordination between project site and office teams.
• Ensures that all contractual and legal matters related to project are dealt with properly and promptly,
seeking advice and guidance from Area Management and/or Corporate Offices as deemed necessary.
• Communicates with Client on all matters requiring their agreement or coordination, with direct involvement
or through delegates from his subordinates as deemed necessary.
• Participates in soliciting and negotiations with potentially suitable subcontractors and major suppliers.
• Ensures the proper conduct of all administrative and man management roles required by Group policy and
local labor laws including industrial relation implementation.
• Fosters the training and development of project workforce and motivating them to work as a good and
effective team.
• Maintains under regular review the demobilization plans of the workforce and plant as project progresses.
• Holds up and maintains broad range of contacts within the area of project, as a basis to business promotion
