- What is the level required to qualify for a training at OGIM?Diploma of Higher Education (Bac+2..+3..+4) for Petroleum Senior Technician Training, Engineering Degree or Master (Bac+5) for Petroleum Engineering Training, and High School diploma (Bac) in a technicial or scientific major for Operators (management, law and languages are excluded).
- How long does the training session last?An academic year plus a 2-week Mini-Project for Engineers (180 hours for Language and about 450 hours for Petroleum courses) . An academic year for senior technicians (180 hours Language and about 350 hours Petroleum courses) and for petroleum production operators (180 hours language and 350 hours Petroleum courses).
- Do we get a degree by the end of this training session?Of course, if the requirements for success are met.
- OGIM institute it is approved by the tunisian state?OGIM is approved by the State (Ministry of Vocational Training and Employment) under No. 08/105/02 and as such, it is permitted to provide basic training and to award degrees in specialities such as Petroleum Engineering, Petroleum Technician and Petroleum Operator. OGIM degrees are postgraduate and they are highly valued by Oil and services companies worldwide.
- What is my chance of getting a job upon completion of the training at OGIM?In less than three months after the end of our first session (2009), more than ¾ of our graduate students have been recruited. The prospects for the next sessions were the same or even better.
- Do companies directly contact OGIM for recruitment and internships?Some companies turn to us, especially those who have already recruited our students and appreciated the quality of our training. In all cases, OGIM systematically caters for all its students.
- Having obtained a diploma from OGIM , what are the real chances of starting an international career?Most of our students have been recruited in international companies operating in Tunisia. Such career frequently kick-offs will definitely be conducive to an international professional career.
- With an OGIM diploma courses is the recruitment in the oil sector virtually guaranteed?OGIM assists and helps its graduates to obtain an internship at the end of training and sometimes even directly in the recruitment process from oil companies in Tunisia or abroad. But what we can say is that our very appreciated training by industry professionals is a real asset. The OGIM diploma certainly multiply your chances of being recruited in the oil sector. Furthermore, the recruitment of course depend on the industry dynamics but also of the candidate itself and its motivation level.
- Does OGIM grant Tunisian students financial privileges when it comes to tuition fees?During the first sessions, OGIM even made it possible to pay part of the fees after recruitment. For the upcoming sessions, the general rule is to pay 50% upon registration and 50% before the end of the training session. For brilliant candidates of special needs, some payment facilities may be granted.
- Are admission conditions the same for Tunisian and non-Tunisian candidates?All candidates, local or international, are treated on equal footing.
- If my level of English is weak, will I be admitted in one of OGIM's training programs ?If you are shortlisted, you have to sit for an English placement test. If your level of English language proficiency is: a- Very weak: you are not admitted, b- Advanced: you will be exempted from taking intensive courses in English, c- Intermediate: you should take 180 hours of preliminary, intensive courses.
- Is it provided a remedial session, in the examination system ?For each module, there is a main exam and a re-sit if you get less than 12/20.
- What are the criteria for success ?It should be 12/20 average. The weighting is based on the number of hours per module. For Petroleum Engineers, the diploma is obtained after defense of a Mini- Project .
- What happens when the student has not 12/20 ?The candidate obtains in this case a certificate of attendance relating to the modules where he justified a regular attendance (less than 20% absence). During two previous sessions, some students in this case were authorized by the Council board to re-set exams of modules of their choice with the following sessions. The final mark is the sup of the two notes.
- Does OGIM collaborate with foreign institutions ?Yes, OGIM collaborates with foreign establishments and companies to provide certifications, internships and for recruitment. In particular we work with International Well Control Forum (IWCF) for training and certification to deliver Well Intervention Pressure Control.
- Is OGIM provides accommodations for international trainees?OGIM ensures the reception of international students, the transfer from the airport, the assistance for the installation and for residence permit. Upon arrival, students who wish can be accommodated in the youth center for a week or more at the rate of 5€ per day. Regarding accommodation and catering during the training, it is necessary to plan between 60 and 120 € per month for accommodation and 80 to 150 € per month for catering.
- I have a university licence (Bac +3), or BTS (Bac +2..) is this sufficient for OGIM to provide me Petroleum Engineering Training ?No, not right now, but may be next year.
- The number of hours of training for technicians is 350 hours. Is it enough?These are 350 hours of applied training by professionals in each speciality. 450 hours as vocational training that is consistent all the more that the program contains little general training.
